Bulk Output Options

Q&A Grabber is flexible when it comes to outputting content. Based on your needs, you can adjust the output settings to save results into different formats (with customized file names and output content).

Default Output #

(applies to Bulk Scrape session results)

By default, each keyword and related PAA results will be saved to separate files. Each file is created on a per-keyword basis, and each file will be named based on the keywords entered when setting up the bulk scrape session.

Example, if entering keywords:

dog grooming
dog training

The files created during the Bulk Scrape session will depend on what output formats were selected before starting.

For example, with the keywords above entered, and HTML and CSV formats selected for the Bulk Scrape, the output files would be:

dog grooming.html
dog grooming.csv
dog training.html
dog grooming.csv

File Output Settings #

You have several options for the output files when it comes to file names. Below are various filename adjustments you can enable.

Capitalize File Names #

When enabled, the first letter of each word will be capitalized when saving the files.

From the example keywords and output formats above (HTML & CSV), the output files would be:

Dog Grooming.html
Dog Grooming.csv
Dog Training.html
Dog Grooming.csv

Append Date / Time to File Name #

When enabled, Q&A Grabber will append the current date and time to each output file name.

The format is:

[keyword]_YYYY-MM-DDTHH-MM-SS.[extension]

YYYY: The Current Year

MM – The Current Month

DD – The Current Day

T – Separator of Day from Time

HH – The Current Hour

MM – The Current Minute

SS – The Current Second

Example Filename Output:

dog grooming_2022-10-16T01-29-46.csv

This helps prevent overwriting previous scrape results if you run a new bulk scrape that contains keywords/results from previous Bulk Scrape sessions.

Combine Results #

When enabled, Q&A Grabber will append results from each keyword to the main file created at the start of the current bulk scrape session.

The main file name that all results will be appended to will be based on the first keyword entered for the current Bulk Scrape session.

Include Keywords #

Applies only to CSV Format

When enabled, the first column for output results will be the keyword used that returned the PAA question/answer results pair.

KeywordQuestionAnswer
dog groomingShould you tip a dog groomer?Standard tips are 15–20 percent of the total cost. But give more if your groomer went above-and-beyond by accommodating your pup’s nippiness, special health needs, or doing you any kind of favor.
dog groomingDo dog groomers wash or cut first?Wash the dog. Give your dog a bath and let him dry thoroughly before you clip him. Avoid clipping a dirty dog if at all possible. The dirt will clog the clippers and make your job difficult.
dog groomingWhat is included in grooming a dog?A professional grooming session typically consists of the dog being brushed, bathed, and dried, as well as trimmed or clipped with clean, sanitized brushes and clipper blades. Groomers brush or comb out mats before the bath, making it easier to lather the dog with shampoo.

Include Source URLs #

When enabled, Q&A Grabber will include the source URL for each PAA result. Where the source URL is included will vary based on the output format. NOTE: does not save URLs for TXT & JSON formats.

CSV

For CSV outputs, the source URL will be added to an additional column. When the Export Results to Rows option is disabled (default), the URLs will appear in a separate column after the Question and Answer Columns:

<p>A short cut can last a pet dog 2 to 3 months, but if your groomer leaves greater than an inch of hair on your pet at a cut, you should obtain your canine brushed every four to 6 weeks to stop matting. The exact same opts for pets with curly and also curly layers.<br>

Export Results to Rows #

Applies only to CSV Format

When selected, Q&A Grabber will save all PAA questions and answers to one row, separated by columns – instead of the default CSV output of a file with a question and answer column, with one result per row.

Default CSV output format example:

File Output Formats #

During bulk scrapes, you can choose to have the resulting content saved in one or more formats. For each format selected, you will find a different output file that corresponds with the preferred output type. If you are manipulating content during the bulk scrape (translating, spinning, rewriting, etc.), this content will be saved. Otherwise, the original text scraped will be saved.

Export to TXT #

Saves a Text File (.txt) with the scraped questions and answers in the plaintext format of:

Question #1
Answer #1

Question #2
Answer #2

etc.

Export to CSV #

Saves a .csv file with the scraped questions and answers, along with extra data if selected. Extra data can include:

  • Keywords – If selected, the first column will contain the keyword used to scrape the results
  • Source URLs – If selected, the last column will contain the URL that the original Q&A content was pulled from

Export Results to Row – If checked, Q&A Grabber will export each question and answer to the same row in the output CSV file. This is useful for those using WP All Import to import results. If NOT checked (default), the Question & Answer pairs will be saved on individual rows.

Export to HTML #

Saves a .html file with the scraped questions and answers, along with extra attribution data (if “Include Source URLs” is checked – will use settings configured in the Attribution Settings tab). Output format is <h2> tags for Questions and <p> tags for answers. I.E.:

<h2>Question #1</h2>
<p>Answer #1</p>

<h2>Question #2</h2>
<p>Answer #2</p>

etc.

Include Source URLs – When checked, the output HTML files will include links ( <a> tags ) within the Answer paragraphs for the HTML output files. See the Attribution Settings overview for more information about source URL formatting options.

Export HTML (FAQ Schema) #

Saves a .html file with the scraped question and answers (similar to “Export to HTML”), with extra markup included for rich data/schema.

Export to JSON #

Saves a .json JSON-LD file with the scraped questions and answers in a rich data schema markup format. It is recommended to save this in addition to another format so you can append this data to the footer of the page for proper schema markup. Example output:

<script type="application/ld+json">
{
    "@context": "https://schema.org",
    "@type": "FAQPage",
    "mainEntity": [{
	"@type": "Question",
	"name": "Are you supposed to groom cats?",
	"acceptedAnswer": {
		"@type": "Answer",
		"text": "<p>It is generally recommended to groom long-haired and medium-haired cats daily, while short-haired cats can usually be groomed about once a week. Some cats may need grooming more often; for example, older cats, or cats who might have trouble grooming because they have mobility or flexibility problems such as arthritis.</p>"
	}
    }]
}
</script>
